Four years after the devastating Asia tsunami of December 26, 2004 — the biggest emergency response in Save the Children’s history, the Organization still works in the area. While the world’s focus has largely moved on, Save the Children continues to stand by hundreds of thousands of children and family members who survived the disaster in more than 1,000 villages in five countries: Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India, Thailand and Somalia. This report summarizes the progress we have made and the lives we have helped transform as a result of our planned five-year response and recovery program. As this report documents, we have achieved significant results in many critical areas including child protection, education, health, livelihoods and disaster risk reduction.
